作品描述：

在这幅画中 凯撒·卡塔尼亚再次回到了小丑的人物塑造。小丑在追逐玩弄他的头, 这个形象表达了作者的无忧无虑，尽管在巨人的土地上困难前行， 小丑仍逍遥自在。 小丑以跑步的姿态呈现在画布上，周遭的场景都是动态的: 巨人的脚在运动，棋子正在倒在地上，骰子刚刚落入沙棋盘，远处的书本正展翅高飞。

作者绘画前做了许多参考。除了小丑，还在《夏日阅读》画中引用了（就是“理论的页眉和薄膜”，赞扬皮尔·路易吉·内维），棋子在白红棋盘倒下，以及巨人的土地来象征主角所遇到的困境。

值得强调的是在幅画中凯撒·卡塔尼亚表达苦难的巨人使用的是“现实主义”手法，而场景其余部分，使用的却是“偏超现实主义”的方式和色彩。

场景的棋盘创作是由沙和咖啡粉及油画颜料放在一起制作的，这是为了造成强烈的视觉对比，

前面的沙粒较大，后面的则越来越小。在巨人快速移动的时候他的脚裸却留在了沙粒中一动不动。
