The beating heart of the Earth arrives in Livorno (Leghorn – Tuscany), and it does so in the form of a monumental and multisensory work of art. On June 26, starting at 6:00 p.m., the Fortezza Nuova will host the free event “The Heart of the Earth – The Embrace that Unites”, conceived by the artist Cesare Catania. An evening in which matter and imagination intertwine thanks to the fusion of art, nature and new technologies, in a narrative that focuses on our relationship with the planet.

The protagonist of the event will be “The Heart of the Earth”, a steel sculpture that is part of an artistic project that combines the physical element with augmented reality content. Through their smartphones, visitors will be able to “activate” the digital component of the work. In addition to admiring and interacting with the artistic installation, the evening will continue with the first non-festival public screening of the short film “The Imagination of a Child”, written and directed by Catania himself.

Fifteen minutes of poetic images that tell the exact moment in which artistic inspiration is born:
the short film tells the story of two lives, that of an Italian sculptor and that of a little girl – originally from Sri Lanka, living with her family in Italy – narrating the intertwining of two lives united by an unrestrained artistic passion.
The short film – with over 50 awards and selected in more than 150 international festivals – fits as a profound key to understanding Catania’s poetics, where sculpture, cinema and digital language coexist in harmony.

« The event on June 26 at the Fortezza Nuova is much more than an exhibition for me,” explains the artist to greenreport –
“it is a moment in which sculpture, cinema and landscape intertwine to tell an artistic vision that I have been trying for years to make tangible and shared.
The choice of Livorno is not accidental: it is a city that has in its DNA the relationship with the sea, with matter and with imagination.
The monumental sculpture The Heart of the Earth, in its phygital version, will dialogue with this context, bringing with it the message of a universal embrace between man and nature.
Making the event even more meaningful will be the screening, for the first time in a non-festival public venue, of my short film “The Imagination of a Child”: a work that tells the exact moment in which creative inspiration is born, and that represents a profound key to understanding my artistic research, including sculpture.»

The Fortezza Nuova, immersed in the canals of Medicean Livorno, will offer a natural stage for this immersive experience, in an event sponsored by the Region of Tuscany, the Municipality of Livorno and the Chamber of Commerce Maremma and Tirreno.
At the end of the short film screening, scheduled at 7:00 PM, a moment of dialogue will open with a cultural talk in which it will be possible to speak directly with the artist.
